With NFL Draft preps in full swing, many scouts and draftniks are busy dissecting tape. One position that has become a hot commodity in the league is tight end, and determining who the top rated player at that position will be an interesting subject as the combine and draft nears.

One player that could fit the bill is Notre Dame tight end Tyler Eifert.  He is rated as the top tight end by many draft services and at 6-5, 250-pounds, has the size to be an asset to any offense. Known more as a receiver in college (140 receptions for 1,840 yards and 11 touchdowns), he is an improving in-line blocker.

More importantly for some teams he fits the mold of the hybrid tight end that is becoming all the rage. He is skilled at multiple positions inside, in the backfield, split out wide as a receiver.  It will be interesting to see his official measurables from the combine or workouts as he could be a strong Red Zone target for some team.
